Handsome Midcentury 1960s Avalon Teak Sideboard
The long, tapered legs on this Avalon sideboard give this vintage substantial storage piece room to breathe and an air of elegance. Dating from the sixties, along with those legs, there are some super design details like the inset, round door handles and the graduated, central trio of drawers. Use as intended for downstairs storage space but this would also work well as a media stand – at 163cm in width is not as long as many midcentury sideboards. It’s in fantastic, original condition with very few signs of wear and tear. It’s been loved and looked after over the years.
Description
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the external surfaces but otherwise the finish is all original, such is its fantastic order. All three, graduated drawers slide with ease and are in good, clean tidy order inside. The top drawer is sectioned and lined, intended for cutlery. The two outer doors slide with ease on their runners and inside each cupboard there is an adjustable shelf. Again, the interiors are clean and tidy with just light marks, and all handles are securely attached. The exterior wood is in really good order – this is a piece that has been treasured. There are two small, pale blemishes on the top surface visible in our photos. These are not scratches, they are smooth to the touch, and in the overall context of the sideboard top, they are barely noticeable. Otherwise, there are just very light, minor marks and scuffs to the exterior surfaces and legs. It’s stable and solid, well-made and with no signs of repair, and dates from the 1960s. The Avalon maker’s stamp is in place.
