Grand Midcentury Danish Extending Teak Coffee / Sofa Table

This is a gorgeous giant, the archetypal Scandinavian sofa table with added benefits! Designed to be set a short distance in front of a couch, the sofa table is essentially an over-sized coffee table. Obviously wider and also taller in stature, the perfect height for drinks, books, bottles of wine, snacks, things required in easy reach as you lounge. This Danish midcentury teak sofa table is generous enough in size in regular mode, but it extends even more at its ends, taking it up to over 2.2M in width when the occasion arises. Cleverly hidden underneath the main table top when not in use, the two, black Formica-topped extensions are simply pulled out at either side. Perfect for canapes, cocktails, afternoon tea, board games, cards and more. Sadly we’ve been unable to definitively attribute it – it’s similar to Ole Wanscher and Anton Kildeberg models but not the same. Regardless though, it’s a beautifully made, handsome piece deserving of the central spot in your living room.

Description

This is an original, vintage table that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The table has been checked, cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied but otherwise the finish is original. The two, black Formica-topped, extending leaves simply pull out from either end. They slide with ease and are in good order. Overall there is minor wear and tear, just superficial, light signs of use, as you would expect of a preloved piece. One of the corners has been a little knocked and we’ve shown this in our photos. It’s a really well-made table, substantial and weighty. We’ve been unable to attribute this table with 100% confidence but it is a Danish, midcentury original, imported directly.
