Classic Vintage Danish Green Velvet Tall Armchair with Tassels

This inviting, vintage, Danish armchair hails from the late 1960s / early 1970s. The olive green velvet does carry some signs of wear and tear but it’s still vibrant, soft and plush with much to offer – have a browse of our photos to see for yourself. The curves and contours are traced by a line of green braid, and the proportions are generous and comforting with enough depth and width to curl up and tuck feet away. The feel is enveloping, supportive and springy. With an on-trend colour and super details, like that tasselled fringe, it would be perfect to cheer up a dull bedroom, study or hallway with its faded glamour. We love more traditional seating like this mixed in with other vintage pieces from different periods. Dress with, bold, colourful cushions or keep it period with blousy florals on textiles and throws. Either way, this easy armchair is versatile and happy to go with the interior design flow.

Description

This is an original, vintage chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have given the chair a thorough vacuum and check but have otherwise left the upholstery alone. As is the way with vintage velvet, there are some flat spots and indentations to the pile across the chair’s surfaces, most notably on the seat itself. We’ve shown this in our photos and as you will note this is more visible from some angles than others, simply as the light catches the velvet. To this end, we don’t feel it detracts greatly from the appeal of the piece. There is also some light fabric wear to the arm tops and top back edge, commonly the points that bear the brunt of wear and tear – please refer to our photos. The braid piping is securely fixed in place throughout. The decorative fringe is in good order with no strands frayed or missing. Overall, the chair is very well-made, solid and sturdy with no wobbles or areas of concern. It was imported directly from Denmark and the style and build lead us to believe it most likely dates from the 1960s / 1970s.
