Antique Late George III Small Mahogany Chest of Drawers
A really sweet, antique, late Georgian chest of drawers in beautiful, richly toned mahogany. We love the neat proportions of this piece. It would make an ideal accompanying piece to a large chest of drawers or the height means that you could add a freestanding mirror on top and use it as a vanity stand. With three graduated drawers, there’s plentiful storage. The round, hanging brass handles are original and it sits on bracket feet. This is a very old piece that does come a little faded and bruised – do browse through our photos for a good sense of this – but we love the minor imperfections of the antique timber and the history it holds. It’s very well-made, has already proved its longevity and is full of old-fashioned character.
Description
This antique, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, vintage condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied to the external wood but otherwise the original finish has been left alone. It features three graduated drawers, all of which are beautifully constructed with dovetail joins. They slide freely, have clean interiors and securely attached, brass plate handles. The handles are original but there was a pull missing on one which we have replaced. As you can see from our photos, the mahogany wood is marked and scarred across its surfaces but primarily on the top where it has faded. We feel this wear only adds to the appeal and character of such an aged piece but please do browse our photos. It’s well made, solid and stable with much to offer. There is no maker’s mark but its origins are British.
