Antique Late George III Mahogany Bow Front Chest of Drawers

An elegant, bow-front, antique, late Georgian chest of drawers in beautiful, richly toned mahogany. We love the proportions of this piece – substantial but not too large. With four generous drawers, in a two over two configuration, there’s ample storage space here. The round, hanging brass handles are original and it sits on elegant, curved front feet. This is a very old piece that comes a little scarred and bruised – do browse through our photos for a good sense of this – but we love the minor imperfections of the antique timber and the history it holds. It’s very well-made, has already proved its longevity and is full of old-fashioned character.

Description

This antique, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, vintage condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied to the external wood but otherwise the original finish has been left alone. It features four drawers, all of which are beautifully constructed with dovetail joins. They slide freely, have clean interiors and securely attached handles. The brass handles are original. As you can see from our photos, the mahogany wood is marked, chipped and scarred across its surfaces but primarily on the top and on the feet. We feel this wear only adds to the appeal and character of such an aged piece – please do browse our photos. It’s well made, solid and stable with much to offer. There is no maker’s mark but its origins are British. Sadly, we do not have a key for the brass locks.
