Antique Early 20th Century Twin Pedestal Light Oak Desk
This characterful, twin pedestal desk has just a hint of Art Deco about it with its sleek lines and geometric form. Constructed in light oak, it has three deep drawers on each end, constructed in solid wood as well as a central drawer, giving it plenty of storage space, despite its neat, compact form. Possibly originally made as a dressing table, it’s smaller than most vintage desks, which were generally built for masses of books and papers, not sleek laptops. With this is mind, it lends itself perfectly for use in the modern home; combining modern practicality with vintage charm.
Description
This is an original, vintage desk that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good, rather rustic, used condition. We have cleaned it and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood but nothing more. All the drawers are made with tenon joints, have wooden handles and they all slide with ease. The interior wood carries some minor marks and stains, no more than you might expect from a desk this age. There are scratches and scuffs to the exterior wood as well as extensive wear to the original finish, which has created a rich, aged patina to the piece. Please take a look at our photos to get an accurate sense of this. We feel that this wear and aging adds to the desk’s authentic, vintage appeal greatly. It’s a really well-made, practical piece of storage furniture that’s solidly constructed with no signs of repair. Sadly there is no maker’s mark.
