Antique Edwardian Oak Dresser & Vanity Stand Pair

This antique pair is just so sweet. They date from the early 1900s, so Edwardian, are British in origin and beautifully crafted in solid oak. The set is comprised of a small two drawer dresser and matching vanity stand. They feature their original round brass handles and sits on long legs. They arrived with us in a sorry state but have been sensitively restored to not strip away all signs of age and character. After all, that’s the charm of fine vintage furniture. Their golden oak grain has now been revived and they are in outstanding order. Overall this is a delightful, vintage set, perfect for a country cottage, a more traditional bedroom or a bathroom.

Description

This is an original, used pair that is ‘sold as seen’. Both pieces are in very good, vintage condition. We have checked and cleaned the pieces inside and out, and they have been fully restored, a careful and considered process so as not to remove all traces of their age, character and charm. This involved stripping away the old chipped and faded finish, stabilising some joints, including around the mirror frame, that had dried and opened a little over the years, then refinishing with layers of oil and a final natural wax polish and buff. All brass handles are securely affixed and are original. The drawers are beautifully made with dovetail joints, they slide easily and have clean, tidy interiors. The vanity stand mirror can be angled by gently pulling / pushing. The mirror, shelf and uprights could be easily unscrewed and removed if you just wished to just use the dresser. They are very well-made antique pieces that are solid and stable with no areas of concern. There are minor knocks and scuffs here and there, commensurate with their considerable age.
