Midcentury 1960s Walnut Sideboard by Morris of Glasgow
An absolute pearl of a find, this outstanding midcentury sideboard was produced by Morris of Glasgow. It dates from the 1960s and is crafted in walnut veneers with the most extraordinary patina across its surfaces. The design is thoughtful and expertly balanced, so important with large, long pieces like sideboards. It packs in lots of storage space across three drawers and a double cupboard so a practical addition to a lounge, dining room or family space. It’s clearly been treasured in a previous life because it’s in fantastic original condition.

Description
This original, vintage sideboard is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in very good, used condition. The piece has been cleaned, inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied and buffed on the external surfaces, but otherwise the finish is original. The three drawers slide with ease, have clean interiors and are well-made with dovetail joins. The top drawer is sectioned and felt-lined for cutlery. The double doors have hinges, closures and handles in good order. There are cutaway shelves in each side, designed to accommodate bottles. Although not height adjustable they can be removed entirely. The cupboard interior is clean and tidy. The handles are securely attached and in good order but their original gold finish has tarnished with use and so they are now predominantly silver. There are light marks and dents here and there on the exterior wood surfaces, very minor signs of use in line with its age. There is a small filled knock on the top right hand side and some small nibs to the top door edge which can’t be seen when shut – we’ve shown these in our photos. It’s an expertly crafted piece of furniture, very well-made, thoughtfully designed and sturdy. The gold maker’s stamp is inside the door. Alternatively, we can arrange fast, UK mainland delivery with our delivery partners who cover most of the country (please enquire for Scotland or remote addresses). They are reliable and insured, and we have worked with them for many years. We have a weekly collection and onward delivery usually follows 1-3 days later.
