Midcentury Double-sided Teak Coffee Table / Media Unit by Meredew
A fantastic piece of British midcentury design by Meredew and dating from the 1960s. This grand, open-sided piece in teak is a large, statement coffee / sofa table, designed to be set in the middle of the lounge and accessed from both sides. On one side, there are dividers for vinyl, two miniature drawers and fixed shelves; and on the other, a recess tall enough to house bottles and the other side of the shelves, all contained below an expansive table top. The low but long proportions of this piece means you could opt to use it as a TV / media stand, sacrificing one of the sides. Well-designed with rounded edges and unfussy details, it looks both midcentury and contemporary. It would work in any style of interior.
Description
This original, vintage unit is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned it and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood surfaces but otherwise the finish is original. All interior shelves, dividers and drawers are in very good order with just light signs of wear. The two drawers slide with ease and have clean interiors. There are some minor scuffs and scratches to the external finish, primarily on the top – please refer to our photos. We’ve shown a small nick to the edge. It’s very well-made, sturdy and heavy with no signs of structural repair or areas of concern. Sadly there is no maker’s label in place but we attribute it to Meredew with confidence as it’s a well-documented piece.
