Vintage 1960s Dunvegan Teak Extending Dining Table by AH McIntosh

A refined, rectangular midcentury dining table from AH McIntosh of Kirkcaldy, made in the 1960s and mixing Scandinavian design influence with more traditional British style. McIntosh furniture is synonymous with superior craftsmanship and top quality wood, and you can see that here across its restored top and on the tapered legs that pour down to the floor. We love the elegant curved sides of the table top, the fine detail of the edge and also its slender profile, a nice change from chunkier dining table models of the same period. The extension section cleverly stows underneath when not in use but when the extra space is required, the two sides pull apart and it slots in for a seamless, large table that can comfortable accommodate eight diners.

This authentic, vintage dining table is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in very good, used condition. The table has been checked, cleaned and beeswax polished but otherwise the finish is original. There are some very minor knocks and scuffs, including a small dent in the table top as shown but overall the wear is very light. The extension section sits separately hidden underneath the centre of the table when not in use. It’s in very good order. To extend the table, the two sides are pulled apart and the extension slotted into place before the two sides are closed. All mechanisms are in very good working order, sliding with ease. As you can see in our photos, the extension section is a touch darker in tone than the rest of the table. This is a commonly seen on vintage dining tables and it’s because this piece isn’t in such regular use and hidden from sunlight. The table is expertly designed and crafted, solid and sturdy.
