Large Vintage American 1940s Crouse Hinds Industrial Lamp – Fully Restored

Founded at the very end of the 19th century, Crouse-Hinds is one of American’s oldest light manufacturers. It specialised in industrial lighting including those classic, American traffic lights, along with lamps of all types, shapes and sizes for aviation and nautical industries. This particular light dates from somewhere between the 1930s-1950s and was most likely originally a nautical searchlight, such is its size and design – it would have been mounted at height on a ship. Now it’s been repurposed for a domestic setting with a new light fitting and bulb that creates a warm, bottom-up, diffused glow through its prismatic glass lens. It retains its hefty industrial aesthetic and appeal though with a great patina over its cast metal case. A quirky, statement piece that’s something of a rarity.
