Vintage Open Bookcase with Adjustable Shelves

A handsome vintage piece, providing plentiful open shelf storage for books and treasures. Constructed in dark stained pine, it comes a little scarred and bruised with use but this is a well made, old bookcase and with that aging comes considerable character and charm. The three shelves are height adjustable with a clever system – on either side there is a shaped peg that can be moved up and down notches. Simple but very effective.

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition, given its considerable years. We have checked and cleaned the piece inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise we’ve left the original finish alone to retain its character and aged appeal. As you can see from our photos, there are chips, scuffs and scratches across its surfaces, very much in line with its age and function. The three inner shelves can be height adjusted with a clever, discreet mechanism where wooden insets are moved up or down in notches and the shelf rests on top.
