Set of Five Vintage Elliotts of Newbury Dining Chairs – Recovered

This midcentury quintet is something of a rarity from quality British furniture maker, Elliotts of Newbury. It’s a model hardly ever seen with a really unusual, spindled back design. Often forgotten with modern dining chair designs, it’s important how they look from the back because that is how they will be mostly viewed, set around the dining table. We love the blond wood and the chairs’ tidy dimensions which don’t compromise on seat width. They have been newly recovered in a Moon’s pure wool of warm brown-greys with a subtle herringbone motif running through it, bringing these 1950’s originals bang up to date. Neutral but not boring, the new fabric looks grand against the golden frames. A super set with a super pedigree.

Description

This set of five original, vintage chairs is ‘sold as seen’. They are in good – very good, used condition. The frames have been checked, cleaned and a neutral, natural wax polish applied to their wooden frames but otherwise the original finish has been left alone. They carry minor, superficial scuffs and marks here and there, light signs of wear and tear in line with their years. Please browse our photos to get a good sense of their condition. They are solid and sturdy with no wobbles or areas of concern. The seat pads have been recovered in a smart pure wool in warm brown-greys. Wool is really hard-wearing so ideal for dining chairs.  The EON maker’s label is on some of the chairs, now underneath the black finishing cloth – concealed but there.
