Original Midcentury Danish Teak Footstool by Spottrup – Reupholstered

For maximum lounging pleasure, a favourite comfy chair should have a footstool! This smart, 1960s, Danish one comes with a great pedigree. Crafted in solid teak it was designed by H Frandsen for Spøttrup Stolefabrik, Denmark. We’ve restored it with a smart new seat in a robust orange pure wool which, on closer inspection, is flecked with other colours and tones. Although a burst of colour, its neutral enough to partner easily with a whole range of colours, textures and patterns in your living room.

Description

This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in good – very good, vintage condition. The solid teak frame has been cleaned and a natural wax polish applied. There are knocks and scuffs to the wood here and there, nothing to call out and the wear is in line with its age and purpose. The seat / foot rest has been new recovered with a thick, hard-wearing, flecked orange pure wool so feels like new. The Danish QC label can be seen underneath and underneath the black finishing cloth, the Spottrup maker’s stamp can be found. It’s a well-made piece that’s solid and sturdy, strong enough to be used as an occasional seat. Do browse our photos for a good sense of condition and colour. And if you’ve any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
