Description
This original, vintage chair is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The wooden frame has been fully restored with great care and consideration – it was in quite a sorry state on acquisition. This involved stripping the original chipped and faded coloured lacquer, then staining, waxing and polishing for a durable, uniform finish. It looks outstanding now whilst keeping it authentic and not removing all signs of age and character. The upholstery is all original. There are two separate cushions. We’ve cleaned the leather with specialist, nourishing cleaners so it’s now soft and supple. The curved back cushion has securely attached buttons on both sides and working zip. There is some light wear and fading to the buttons in particular, along with wrinkling to the leather as you would expect to see. Likewise, the thick seat cushion has some wrinkling from use across its top and sides, a characteristic of vintage leather that we love. It comes with a working zip and plump inner. The finishing canvas underneath the seat cushion has a faint tide mark on one side – please refer to our photo. The maker’s label is in place. It’s superbly constructed, solid and sturdy with no wobbles. It was imported directly from Sweden and it dates from the early 1970s.
