Original 1970s G Plan Fresco Dressing Table with Matching Round Stool

The rarely seen, more compact G Plan ‘Fresco’ vanity table with its accompanying round stool. Pamper, preen and pose in British midcentury style! Made in teak and afromosia, the latter creating the darker definition of the signature, inset handles and the curved legs. With five drawers, it delivers a great deal of bedroom storage, along with a generous table top and a trio of mirrors which can be angled to suit. We love the velvet stool which tucks neatly in and the purple-lined central drawer.

Description

This original, vintage pair is ‘sold as seen’. They are in good, used condition, and the set is comprised of the dressing table and accompanying round stool. We have checked and cleaned the piece inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the external surfaces but otherwise the finish is all original. All five drawers slide with ease, are well-made with dovetail joints, and are in good, clean order inside with light signs of use. The central drawer is sectioned and purple velvet lined. There are some marks to the fabric and a little fraying but nothing major – please see our photo. The mirrors can be angled on their fittings which are in good working order. The exterior wood surfaces overall is in good – very good order with minor wear and tear as we might expect with a piece of this age. Do browse our photos for an accurate sense of this. The dressing table is very well-made, as you would expect from G Plan, stable and solid, with no signs of repair. The G Plan label can be found inside a drawer. The original velvet fabric of the matching footstool is a lightly marked on the top and the central button missing but it’s not particularly obvious. The finishing fabric underneath has a tear which we’ve tapped up, assuming it’s likely it would be recovered at some point. If not, it could be easily glued. The stool is well-made and in its own right a fantastic, midcentury piece. The set dates from the 1970s. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of its condition.
