Vintage G Plan ‘Fresco’ Tallboy Chest of Drawers by VB Wilkins

From their flagship ‘Fresco’ range produced in the 1960s and designed by V.B. Wilkins, this handsome teak tallboy chest of drawers is a vintage design classic and this particular one is in excellent condition, a rare find as they’re often much worn and faded. The vertical grain is just beautiful, particularly across the drawer fronts, and we love the design details like the gently rounded edges and elongated, inset drawer handles, softening the piece. The darker afromosia borders add further definition and distinction. It’s a well-crafted piece of furniture, and its slim stature and timeless design ensures it will fit easily into any modern home. Tallboys are great storage options where wall width is limited but you can go up.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good – excellent, used condition. It has been thoroughly checked and cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied to the exterior surfaces but otherwise the finish is original. All six drawers feature dovetail joints, they slide with ease and have clean, tidy interiors. The exterior wood including the top surface is in fantastic condition with only minimal marks and light scuffs from prior use. The only flaw to call out is a small chip on the right hand-side, back edge – please refer to our photo. It’s minor and its location means it’s barely noticeable. The red G Plan sticker is affixed inside the top drawer. It’s an expertly crafted piece of a very high quality. Do browse our photos for a good sense of condition.
