Swedish Midcentury 1970s Green Corduroy Lounge Chair
Is this chair as comfy as it looks? Yes, it absolutely is. A lazy, loungy retro armchair with a generous seat depth and width for curling up on. It hails from Sweden and dates from the seventies when lounge seating got a lot more voluptuous, exaggerated and rounded. The on-show pine wooden frame looks striking from all sides, perhaps rather Brutalist in design. We love the original, olive green corduroy upholstery, studded with large buttons. We have the accompanying sofa available too and they are listed as a pair at a discounted price, as well as listed separately.
Description
This original, vintage chair is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have applied a natural beeswax polish to the solid pine frame but otherwise, we have left the original finish alone. As you can see from our many photos, the wooden frame does carry light knocks, scuffs and signs of use but this is light. The seat and back cushions are in very good order with plump inners, working zips and securely attached buttons. The cushions simply rest in place and the arm rests are fixed. The original olive green corduroy upholstery is in very good order throughout with very few signs of use or wear. The canvas under the seat cushion is in very good order too. The feel of the chair is low and loungy. There is no maker’s mark nor have we been able to attribute it but it’s Swedish in origin and dates from the 1970s.
