Description
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The on-show, solid wood frame has been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied, and the upholstery has had a thorough vacuum. The original, patterned red velvet upholstery including the braiding is in remarkably good order considering its age. There is some sunlight fading to the the colour and some very light marks on close scrutiny but take a look at our photos for an accurate sense of its great condition. There are no threadbare patches or tears to report. As you will see from our photos, the back panel is finished in a plain black cloth. This isn’t a repair, indeed it’s common on vintage Scandinavian sofas from this period. As the sofa was designed to be set against a wall, a plain cloth is used on the unseen back instead of the expensive upholstery fabric. The carved wooden arms and legs do carry light knocks and scuffs as shown but this is minor. The two front legs have their original brass caps in place. It’s a well-made, heavy weight sofa. It’s solid and sturdy with no wobbles or creaks. It’s imported from Denmark and dates from the 1950s.
