Vintage 1960s Jentique Bureau with Drawers & Desk
Neat vintage bureaus come with considerable charm and these days they’re having something of a renaissance with increased demands for working from home. Less space-demanding than a conventional desk, they are efficient, practical pieces of home furniture. Bureaus are also great options for student rooms to help them get organised with a dedicated but discreet work station. This 1960’s teak bureau from highly reputable British furniture maker, Jentique, is particularly handsome and ticks all the boxes for midcentury good looks and original design details along with practicality. The four drawers provide masses of storage and the pull down, locking hinged door creates a stable and generous enough desk. Pull up a chair and you’re set to focus and work.

Description
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied to the external wood. All four drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors with only light signs of wear. The top desk section features pigeon holes and two further small drawers. Again, it’s in good clean, tidy order throughout and the hinges for the pull down door are in good working order too. The top section has a lock and key. There are some minor scuffs and knocks to the exterior wood surfaces but overall this is light and in line with its age. There is a old repair to the top right hand corner of the top drawer – please see our photos. It’s a little clumsily done but it’s stable and in the overall context of the piece isn’t particularly noticeable. It’s well put together piece, solid and stable including when the pull-down desk in place. The four legs have the original, adjustable brass feet securely in place.
