Antique Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers

A perfectly proportioned, Georgian chest of drawers in beautiful, honey-toned mahogany with original brass plate handles that have a deer motif engraved on them. It comes a little scarred and bruised with life but we love the imperfections of the antique timber and the history it holds. For all the marks and knocks, it’s very well-made and has already proved its longevity. Full of old-fashioned character and charm it has a great deal to offer giving ample storage across three generous drawers. A neat, useful piece for the bedroom that will work with pieces from other periods.

Description

This antique, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in fair – good, rustic condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied to the external wood but otherwise the original finish has been left alone. All three drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and have the original brass plate handles securely in place. They are all clean and tidy inside. As you can see from our photos, the wood is rather marked, chipped and scarred across all its surfaces. We feel this only adds to the appeal of such an aged piece but we know this isn’t for everyone – please do browse our photos. The knocks and bruises are superficial and just skin-deep. It’s well made, solid and stable. There is no maker’s mark but its origins are British. Sadly, we do not have a key for the brass locks.
