Pair of Original Vintage Ercol Model 203 Armchairs

It’s unusual to find one of these vintage model 203 lounge chairs in such great order so we were delighted to acquire this matching pair. Immediately recognisable as Ercol, the model 203 lounge chair in light blond, solid beech wood is the perfect easy chair. Its open frame looks striking from all sides and make it less bulky than more traditional lounge chairs. We love its wide, welcoming stance and its upturned arms. Both chairs are in overall fantastic order, well made and sturdy with fitted cushions that have been recently reupholstered and taut, new Pirelli webbing. And those cushions are a smart, green tweed wool, specifically designed and contoured for this chair model. These chairs work in any room in the modern home, from bedroom to conservatory to family space to lounge. Each chair is listed individually too if you’re just after the one.

Description

This pair of original, used chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Both armchairs have been well looked after and are in very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned and polished the wooden frames. There are very minor signs of wear and tear to the original finish – just small dents and knocks here and there – but this is in line with their age and is light. The shaped cushions have been reupholstered in recent years (not by us) and are in very good order too with working zips and plump inners. There is a little, light piling on one of the seat cushions which we’ve shown in our photos. The fabric is a mixed weave tweed wool of pale greens and browns. It’s worth noting that if the fabric isn’t to your taste, these bespoke cushions could be recovered, a significant time and cost saving. The blue Ercol stickers are affixed to the back of each chair and we date them to the 1970s.
