Vintage 1960s Homeworthy Teak Sideboard / Dresser

A handsome, Danish-inspired, four drawer, teak veneer dresser / sideboard, made in the 1960s by quality, British midcentury furniture makers, Homeworthy.  As with many of these double drawer units, we believe this most likely started life as part of a bedroom suite and would have had a mirror above, but as we often see, this has been removed to give it more universal appeal and great versatility. It would now look just as at home in a dining room, living area or even entrance hall. There are some super design details here from the rounded, recessed handles and long, elegant legs to the dark teak trim and the wide, cambered edge on the top.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned with piece inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood. The four drawers move freely, are well-made with recessed handles, dovetail joints and have clean and tidy interiors. There are some very light marks and scuffs here and there to the external wood, including a small light blemish on the lower edge and some fading around the handles on one of the drawer fonts which we’ve shown in our photos. There is also a small chip on the back corner of one side. Overall this is light wear and in line with the piece’s considerable age – do browse our photos for a good sense of its order. Overall it’s a super piece, well constructed and in great condition. There is no maker’s label but we attribute this to British maker, Homeworthy, with confidence.
