Vintage British Glass Front 1960s Teak Bookcase with Side Cabinet
A nicely constructed, teak, glass-fronted bookcase with a side cupboard, British made and dating from the 1960s. It has two adjustable shelves behind the sliding glass doors, plus a small adjustable shelf in the cupboard. What we love about these particular pieces is their shallow depth – this one is only a touch over 25cm. They offer loads of storage and display with precious items protected behind glass, but they don’t intrude into a room, taking up valuable space. They sit discreetly against the wall. And the design of this one means it would suit a more traditionally-styled space just as well as it would a midcentury themed interior.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good – very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece, inside and out applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces. The glass doors are in good order and slide freely in their runners. There is a light surface scratch on one of the doors but this is barely noticeable – we only saw it when we removed the glass to clean it. All interiors and shelves are clean and tidy with just light signs of use. The shelves are adjusted by moving shelf pegs. The external wood surfaces are in good order with just light marks here and there, primarily on the top surface as you might expect. Please browse our photos for a good sense of its super overall condition. It’s well made, British in origin, although sadly we do not have a maker’s name.
