Vintage 1960s Stag C Range Oak Chest of Drawers by John & Sylvia Reid
This is one of those pieces that looks both midcentury and contemporary – and that’s classic, timeless design. Designed by power couple, John and Sylvia Reid for Stag in the 1960s, this is from their C range. The light oak makes a refreshing change from teak and as such creates a lighter, less bulky piece of functional furniture. The design is refined and clean with long, lower recessed handles and cylindrical legs. We love the slightly darker bottom drawer too, a quirk of this particular piece. Lots of storage across four, deep drawer, a lovely slice of midcentury that will mix and match with other furniture.
Description
This original, vintage chest of drawers is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in good – very good, used condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and the exterior surfaces stripped, oiled and polished, a partial restoration. All four drawers slide with ease, are well constructed with dovetail joins and have clean, tidy interiors. The top drawer has the Stag maker’s label inside. There are light signs of wear and tear, very much in line with its age and function. It’s well-made, solid and stable.
