Midcentury 1960s Danish Oak Desk with Drawers by Domino Mobler
Made by Domino Møbler, this midcentury, handsome oak desk hails from Denmark and comes with an excellent pedigree. Classically Scandinavian by design where good looks are as important as function, it’s got six generous drawers in banks of three and a wide top surface for productive working, but not too deep. The symmetry, the minimalist features, like the square handles, and clean, crisp lines elevate this stylish desk from the ordinary. The back looks as good as the front too so this could be a freestanding piece if you’re lucky enough to have the space. And it’s always a joy to see oak in our studio, a nice change from the favoured teak of this period.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good – very good, used condition. We have partially restored the top surface with light sanding, oil and beeswax polish to remove the heavier wear. The other external wood surfaces have been cleaned and polished. The six drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors. Sadly we do not have the keys so the locks do not function. The exterior wood carries very minor knocks and scuffs but this is commensurate with its age and function as a ‘working’ piece. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of this piece’s order. This is a very well-made piece that’s solid and sturdy. The maker’s mark can be seen underneath the desk. If you would like to view this piece or have any questions, please get in touch.
