Vintage 1960s Ercol Drop Leaf Rectangular Plank Dining Table
An iconic piece of British mid-century design from Lucian Ercolani in near-flawless, original condition. Made for a short time between 1964-1970, this is a rarer Ercol model that looks like a square when extended but it’s actually not quite. It’s made in Ercol’s characteristic beautiful blonde wood with an elm top and beech splayed legs. These Ercol tables are characterised by their softly tapered, elm wood table top that gently slopes off. And of course the patina of the elm is simply stunning. A timeless design that never goes out of fashion, an Ercol piece of furniture is for life and this particular, almost square table design is one of our absolute favourites in super, original order.
Description
This is an original, vintage table that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We’ve cleaned it and applied a natural beeswax polish but have otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such good order. There are some minor knocks to the wood on the table top which we have shown in our photos – they’re not very noticeable, only when they catch the light and they are minor marks. The legs carry light signs of aging / use as you might expect where feet have knocked them but again, nothing we feel that detracts from the appeal of the table. The drop leaves are extended with Ercol’s signature, simple pull mechanism on the underside and these arms moves with ease and are in good working order. There are no repairs or signs of damage, the table is superbly constructed and in sound, sturdy order. Sadly the original Ercol label is no longer affixed but it’s a well-documented piece that’s undeniably Ercol.
