Set of Four Midcentury Ercol Model 400 Windsor Dining Chairs
A foursome of 1960s / early 1970s Ercol Windsor dining chairs that have had a careful OHW makeover – sanded, oiled, wax polished and buffed them, restoring them as gently as possible, without removing too much of their vintage character and charm. Their design is neater and less fussy than the later 400 Windsor models with just four back spindles and a compact seat width. Ercol made furniture to last and the fact these chairs are 50+ years old and still solid and stable proves that. They have much to offer the modern household and would be as at home in a stylish, midcentury dining room as they would around a homespun, country kitchen dining table.
Description
This set of four original, vintage dining chairs that is ‘sold as seen’. They are in good – very good, used condition and they have been partially restored. They have been cleaned, carefully sanded to remove some of the superficial marks and scuffs, and then oiled, waxed and polished, with great care taken to ensure that not all their character is stripped away. There are still knocks and dents here and there but they are minor and light. As you would expect from Ercol, the chairs are superbly crafted, solid and stable with no wobbles. Sadly the blue Ercol stickers are no longer on the backs of the chairs but they are stamped underneath. Please refer to our photos for a good sense of their used condition.
