Vintage 1970s Farstrup Bentwood Brown Leather Armchair
A handsome, low, bentwood chair in a very lovely, chestnut brown leather that hails from 1970’s Denmark and is attributed to Farstrup Møbler. A wonderful, light-weight lounge chair that can work in the modern home as a standalone seat or be partnered with other seating and sofas. Its fluid, ‘open’ form means it’s significantly less bulky than a more conventional easy chair, taking up less space. And of course, vintage, aged leather can be a hard-wearing, practical choice too. A smart, characterful chair that’s supremely comfortable, and we love those arms!
Description
This is an original, used chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good , vintage condition. The leather cushion has been cleaned and the leather nourished with a natural, neutral balm. The single sectioned seat cushion simply rests in place on the frame. The cushion is in good – very good order with soft, supple leather, securely attached buttons, a working zip and plump inners. There are faded corners, wrinkles and surface marks but these are in line with how leather wears through use and is very much part of its character. Please refer to our photos to get a true sense of this. The canvas and strappings under the cushion are in excellent order. The dark wood bentwood frame is solid and stable with only very light surface marks here and there but there is some sunlight fading to the wood on one side that was clearly nearest the window. Sadly and frustratingly there is no maker’s label but this is a very fine quality, well-documented chair that we attribute with confidence to Farstrup.
