Midcentury Stag ‘Cantata’ Double Teak Chest of Drawers
Stag made fantastic Scandinavian-influenced, every-day furniture throughout the mid-century under the tutelage of John and Sylvia Reid, and later, Ronald Carter. This double chest of drawers is surely one of the most practical bedroom pieces, offering tremendous amounts of storage in different sizes with a bank of four large and four smaller drawers side by side. Nicely made with the more desirable, signature wooden handles, constructed to last a lifetime, and in great condition, this particular double-sided model rarely comes available.
Description
This is an original, vintage chest of drawers that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall good, used condition. We cleaned it and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but have otherwise left the original finish well alone so there are some signs of wear and tear from age and use. All eight drawers slide with ease, are made with dovetail joins and have clean, tidy interiors. There is some light wear to the finish on the handles and some superficial marks on the drawers fronts but nothing to call out. As you might expect, the main area to sustain marks and scuffs is the top surface – please refer to our photos. Overall it’s minor wear. The original Stag label is in the top left drawer and the piece dates from the 1960s. Please do browse our photos for a good sense of its order.
