Original Vintage G Plan Rectangular Extending Teak Dining Table
We see vintage G Plan dining tables regularly, such was their broad appeal and their fantastic build quality, standing the test of time. This particular rectangular extending model though is a rarer find. It’s in great condition having undergone a partial restoration – a refinished table top – and will comfortably seat six in its regular, nonextended mode. Pull the two sides apart to reveal the extension hidden underneath. This cleverly folds out, taking the table top to over 190cm in length so room for eight – ten diners. It’s a large, grand dining table at maximum capacity. As you would expect from G Plan, it’s really well-constructed in teak with a darker afromosia border, a signature design feature seen across its Fresco range.

Description
This is an original, vintage table that is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned this piece and the main table top has been restored, a process which involved careful sanding, layers of matt varnish and a final polish to give a hard-wearing, durable finish. The extending section is hidden underneath the centre of the table. The two table halves are pulled apart to reveal the patented, folding mechanism that rotates with the extension flattening out. The two sides are then pushed back together to give a seamless finish. All mechanisms, hinges and runners are in excellent working order, moving freely and with ease. As is often the way with extending tables, the extension is slightly darker than the main table top. This is quite simply because it’s been less exposed to sunlight and used less. There are minor scuffs and knocks here and there to the legs and edges but nothing to call out. Overall, this very fine vintage table is in super order, Sadly the red G Plan label is no longer in place but it’s a well-documented piece by the brand so we attribute it with confidence.
