Original Midcentury 1960s Avalon Sideboard with Drawers
A classic British midcentury piece that offers a great deal of versatility – multi-functional, it can be used as a console table in a hallway or entrance, as a media stand for your TV in your lounge or family room, as a sideboard in your living area, as a dressing table (its original function with a mirror attached to the back) or chest of drawers in the bedroom. Made by Avalon, it’s a quality storage piece, solid and well-constructed in teak with darker solid teak handles. With tidy dimensions that won’t demand much space, those long, signature legs create space around the drawers and give it an elegance. The wood has aged beautifully to a dark honey tone and we love the asymmetrical drawers.
Description
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the piece inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the external surfaces. All four drawers slide with ease and are in good clean tidy order internally. There are light scuffs and marks here and there on the exterior wood and legs, including some small veneer chips on the left hand end – please refer to our photo. Overall though this is light, in line with its considerable age, and it doesn’t detract from the appeal of the piece in our view. It’s stable and solid, well-made and with no signs of repair, and most likely dates from the 1960s. The Avalon maker’s label is in place. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of its condition.
