Set of Four Vintage 1960s Ercol Model 400 Windsor Dining Chairs
A rescued foursome of early 1960s Ercol Windsor dining chairs, we have stripped and restored them as sensitively as possible without removing their character and life. They come with bumps and knocks still but we love their rustic, lived-in charm. Their design is neater and less fussy than the later 400 Windsor models with just four back spindles and a compact seat width. Ercol made furniture to last and the fact these chairs are 60+ years old and still solid and stable proves that. They have much to offer the modern household and would be as at home in a stylish, midcentury dining room as they would a homespun country kitchen dining table.

Description
This set of four original, vintage dining chairs that is ‘sold as seen’. They are in good, used condition and they have been restored. They have been cleaned, stripped and carefully sanded to remove superficial marks and scuffs, and then oiled, waxed and polished, with great care taken to ensure that not all their character is stripped away. There are still knocks and scuffs, particularly on the bend of one of the chair backs. Please refer to our photos for a good sense of their used, condition. The nature of the wear and tear is very much in line with the chairs’ age and function, part of their appeal in our view. As you would expect from Ercol, the chairs are superbly crafted, solid and stable with no wobbles. There is a partial Ercol sticker in place on the back of one of four of the chairs.
