Vintage Arts & Crafts Style Oak Framed Three Seater Danish Sofa
A more unusual Danish piece for us, this oak framed, three seater, bench-style sofa has a definite Arts & Craft sensibility to its design. The frame is elegant and traditional by design, with a slatted back and decorative arms. A set of sprung back and seat cushions in their original green and red striped wool add comfort, support and buoyancy. Perhaps not an obvious lounge sofa choice but a good accompanying piece to other sofas and chairs. It would also serve you well in a hallway, open-plan landing, office or bedroom.
Description
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. The oak frame has been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied. The six individual cushions have been thoroughly vacuumed. They have sprung units inside – a rare and wonderful find these days – which are in very good order and the covers have working zips. The original striped upholstery is in very good order overall. One cushion has a very small hole in the fabric (shown in our photos) but as the cushions are reversible, this can be hidden underneath and it’s unlikely to grow. There is some sunlight fading on the back cushions as they rest against the slats but this is minor. The webbing that the cushions sit on is in good order too considering its years. It has plenty of life in it. There are some minor scuffs and scratches to the wooden frame but it’s a well-made sofa. We believe it dates from the 195os. Please do browse our photos for a good sense of its condition and order. Any questions, just get in touch.
