Vintage 1970s Swedish Brown Leather Footrest by Ake Fribytter for Nelo Möbel
Sadly separated from its original easy chair partner, this is nonetheless a wonderfully quirky footstool and its neutral design means it can marry up with any other lounge seat or sofa. It hails from Sweden, designed by Åke Fribytter for Nelo Möbel in the 1970s. The sectioned deep brown leather cushion sits on top of a folding dark wood frame, supported by canvas. It’s in super condition and works a treat as a luxurious rest for weary feet, elevating and cushioning them at the perfect height.
Description
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned this footstool thoroughly and nourished the leather. The leather upholstery on the top, sectioned cushion is in very good order – it’s plump, well-made, the zip underneath is in good order and the buttons are securely in place. There are wrinkles and slight fading to the leather but this is in line with its age and function. The dark wooden stand is also in very good order, folding with ease, and the canvas is securely fixed in place with just a little sunlight fading on its edges. It’s a well-made footstool that’s solid and sturdy, strong and large enough to be used as an occasional seat. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but its unusual design means we can attribute it with confidence.
