Original Vintage Danish Georg Thams Bentwood & Leather Armchair
Dating from the 1970’s, this Georg Thams brown leather bentwood chair is a seriously handsome statement seat with unusual and striking layers of double bentwood. Looking good from all sides, the organic lines flow, particularly on those curved arms. With a tall back and generous proportions this would suit a tall person who needs greater seat height and depth. These cantilever chairs are some of the most comfortable seats around with the perfect tilt, contoured support and gentle buoyancy.
Description
This is an original, used chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, vintage condition. The chair has been thoroughly cleaned and the leather nourished with a natural, neutral balm. The seat cushion can be removed but the back and head rest cushions are secured in place. All three cushions have soft, supple leather and are in very good order with working zips and secure buttons. There are some wrinkles and surface marks to the leather cushions but these are in line with how leather wears through use and is part of its character. The two leather arm rests are in good order too but the right hand rest has a small tear at the back corner, shown in our photos. This has been repaired so is stable and unlikely to deteriorate and given its position isn’t noticeable. It’s a minor flaw. The canvas under the cushions is in excellent order. The dark wood bentwood frame is solid and stable with only very light surface marks here and there. The Thams Kvalitet maker’s sticker is attached underneath. Please do browse our photos for a good sense of its super condition and colour.
