Set Of Four 1960s Danish Teak ‘Lis’ Chairs By Niels Koefoed For Koefoeds Hornslet
A rare find, this set of four ‘Lis’ teak dining chairs are in outstanding condition. Designed by renowned Danish furniture designer, Niels Koefoed, for Koefoeds Hornslet in the 1960s, they come with significant provenance and pedigree. The design and craftsmanship on show here is exemplary. The gentle curves and contours at play give these tall, generous dining chairs an elegance and femininity. They are, as you might imagine, supremely comfortable with their supportive form-fitting backs and generous seat pads. Made in solid teak with pale cream wool tweed upholstery, they fit in effortlessly around any table. You’d be hard pushed to find more standout mid-century dining chairs than these.
Description
These are original, vintage pieces that are ‘sold as seen’. They are in overall excellent, used condition. The wooden frames have been cleaned, waxed and polished. All four chairs are solid and sturdy with no signs of repair. There are light marks to the woodwork in line with their age but this is very minimal. We’ve shown in a photo some faint drip marks on the back bar of one of the chairs but it’s barely noticeable. The wool tweed upholstery is also in outstanding order with no marks or areas of wear to flag. The weave is flecked with creams, browns and oatmeals, a neutral colour that will mix with any colour scheme or pattern. The inner foams are in good order too. Overall, their condition is outstanding – they’ve been taken great care of. Each chair carries the Made in Denmark quality stamp, alongside the Koefoeds Hornslet maker’s mark.
